Frequently asked questions

How does MMR work?
MMR (Matchmaking Rating) starts at 1000 for everyone. It goes up when you win and down when you lose. The amount it changes depends on your opponent's rating — beating a higher-rated player earns more points.
How do I check in to a court?
Open the Courts tab, find your court on the map or in the list, and tap Check In. You need to allow location access for this to work. You can only be checked in to one court at a time.
How do 1v1 challenges work?
Go to the Match tab and find another player's card, or challenge a friend directly from their profile. Once they accept, you both arrange a time and location. After the game, both players confirm the result — the winner's MMR goes up and the loser's goes down.
Why am I not receiving notifications?
First check that notifications are enabled in the Hoops app under Settings → Notifications. Then check iOS Settings → Hoops and make sure notifications are allowed. If you still have issues, sign out and back in to re-register your device.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link — tap it and follow the instructions to set a new password.
Can I use Hoops without an account?
Yes — you can browse courts and explore the app as a guest. To check in, challenge players, track matches, or add friends, you'll need to create a free account.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your Profile → Settings → Delete account. You'll be asked to confirm before anything is deleted. Deletion is permanent and all your data will be removed.
A court is missing or has incorrect information.
Email us at support@gohoop.app with the court name and location and we'll get it added or corrected.
